RECALL CAMPAIGN NOTICE FOR
1998-2006 LC 1500 INTRUDER AND C90/T BOULEVARD MODELS
FUEL TANK INSPECTION & REPLACEMENT

Recall Notice Date: February 3, 2006

1. What is the reason for this notice?
Suzuki Motor Corporation has decided that a defect retlating to motor vehicle safety exists in all 1998-2005 and certain 2006 VL 1500 and C90/T Boulevard model motorcycles. Suzuki Motor Corp. is conducting a voluntary Safety Recall Campaign.

2. What is the problem?
Suzuki Motor Corporation has determined that under certain rare operating conditions, repeated stress around the right front fuel tank mounting point can cause a hairline crack to form due to metal fatigue. This can allow (fuel) seepage to occur. In the presence of an ignition source, seeped fuel can cause a fire.

3. What is Suzuki doing to solve the problem?
Suzuki is recalling affected units for inspection of the fuel tank and teh installation of improved cusions that mount and support the fuel tank. These improved cushions better isolate the fuel tank to prevent vibration that could cause a stress crack in the fuel tank right front mount area. Any fuel tanks that are found to have a crack will be replaced. Repair time is approximately 2 hours and will be done at no cost to you for parts or labor. (Additional time will be encurred if the tank must be replaced as well, and the tank will have to be ordered before replacing it.)

4.How do I receive the fastest possible service?
Suzuki suggestss that you work closely with an authorized Suzuki dealer to get your recall service scheduled and performed as quickly as possible. Schedule an appointment for the recall service to be performed. Parts are currently available. I will be necessary for your dealer to order the parts. It may be necessary to leave your motorcycle with the dealer overnight, so check with your dealer.

When you pick up your repaired motorcycle, allow a few extra minuted for your dealer to prepare and complete the necessary warranty paperwork with you. If you have special circumstances, discuss them with your Suzuki dealer.

If your motorcycle is included in the recall and you have paid for the repair or replacement of the fuel tank due to a crack in the right front mount area, you may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement. Contact your Suzuki dealer or the American Suzuki Motor Corparation Motorcycle Customer Service Dept. PO Box 1100, Brea, CA 92822-1100 or call 1(714) 572-1490.

NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: I leave you with this point to ponder, if you still need one. If you own a C90 Boulevard or an LC1500 Intruder, we are talking about the potential for a gas leak, and one that could occur while you are riding! Also think about the fact that your fuel tank is under the driver seat! This recall repair/modification for this is absolutely free. There is no reason to put you and/or a passenger at further risk. It will just take a little of your time to get the parts ordered and get your motorcycle in for the free repair, so think safety first and get it done now before the riding reason starts in ernest. There is no indication yet as to whether there may be a time limit on the free recall work, but the sooner you take it in, the better. Don't let the opportunity pass to get this done for free and to ensure your safety. It is also recommended, for obvious safety reasons, that you store the bike and not ride it until it has been inspected, and please to do so in a well ventilated area, away from water heaters, gas or electric dryers or anything capable of becoming an igition source for potential gasoline vapors. You may not have the crack, but there is the possiblity of increased risk the longer you ride the motorcycle. Do it today!
